i stumbled over the fence to get to the astana bus, where the woman in high heels, striped dress and sweet fumes was trying to flirt an astana cap from a soigneur.

she still wears that cap when i visit her in copenhagen.

a straight line

dauphiné libéré 2009 - rehearsing for the tour - i went in a small car to the town of briancon. i went with a woman dressed up in high heels, a red striped dress and sweet fumes.

with blue mountains in the mirrors of a very small car, we almost flew back to lyon and a hotel room.

looking forward to hit the ventoux again in approx. 3 weeks.

the great ventoux. it rips out lungs of the unprepared. it tears up the mind of young riders. its a long drag of no mercy.

being pushed around by colleagues, i realised that the legs of a worn out rider are far more interesting than arms raised with some bowl of silver or what ever.

'tighten up your legs fränk' i yelled.

at a bar close to the departure area in maastricht, these guys were already celebrating around 8 o'clock in the morning. 'will we be on the cover?' they asked me. 'yes' i replied, shooting a few pics. the men at the bar were very curious, asking a lot of questions. it made me think about who of us were the visitors in this zoo?
